Max Cashout Rules and Win Caps:
What a Casino Bonus Lets You Keep

Definition

A max cashout rule (also called a win cap or maximum conversion) limits how much you can withdraw from a bonus, however much it actually wins. It can be a fixed amount, a multiple of the bonus or deposit, or a cap on free spin winnings. Anything above the cap is removed when the bonus converts. It doesn’t touch your bad sessions. It only cuts your best one.

Caps below come from our bonus reviews, rechecked in September 2026.

Rollover tells you how hard a bonus is. The cap tells you what winning is worth. Clear the wagering, turn $100 of bonus into a $3,000 balance, then read that the maximum cashout is $500, and the other $2,500 was never yours. That’s why the cap deserves the same attention as the multiplier, and why it’s the term casinos least like to put on the banner.

The kinds of cap, with real examples

Stacked Bitcoin coins beneath a gauge approaching a payout limit.
Cap typeHow it worksReal example
Fixed amountA set ceiling, whatever the bonus sizeDel Oro: $1,000 on the 150% offer, $500 on the 75%. BetUS casino: $2,500. CryptoSlots: $5,000.
Multiple of the bonusThe cap scales with what you were givenSportsbet.io: 10x the maximum bonus, so 3,000 USDT. FortuneJack: free spin winnings capped at 5x the bonus.
Equal to the bonusYou can never release more than you were givenMegapari: the bonus balance “releases no more than the original bonus amount”
Multiple of the depositSmall deposits get small caps500 Casino: 10x your deposit, so a $30 deposit caps at $300
Lowest of severalDifferent documents set different caps, and all apply500 Casino: $500 on the promo page, $1,000 in the Bonus Terms, 10x the deposit in the Terms of Service
Per task or batchEach piece of a package has its own ceilingCoins.Game’s Beginner’s Path: spin rewards capped at $1, $2, $2 and $5
Per bet, on all playA maximum on any single win, bonus or notFortuneJack: €300,000 per bet or spin. Rakebit: €500,000, with up to 90 days to pay it.

Megapari’s rule is the harshest on this list and the easiest to miss. Its 35x casino bonus, on a 7-day clock with a €5 max bet, releases at most the original bonus amount. Turn a €100 bonus into €600 and €100 converts. The growth is forfeited. It scores 51, and the cap is most of the reason.

Caps that scale badly

How a cap is set changes who it hurts:

  • Fixed caps punish big deposits. Del Oro’s 150% offer goes up to a $1,500 bonus, but the cap is $1,000. Deposit $1,000 and you get a bonus larger than the most you can ever withdraw from it. Our review works out that the offer fits best on a deposit of about $67.
  • Deposit-multiple caps punish small deposits. At 500 Casino, a $30 deposit caps conversion at $300 whatever the headline says.
  • Caps that disagree punish everyone. When three documents give three caps, plan around the lowest. That’s the one support will quote when you withdraw.

What a cap does to the maths

A cap doesn’t change what wagering costs. $100 of bonus at 35x deposit plus bonus is $7,000 of bets and about $280 of expected losses on 96% slots, cap or no cap. What changes is the upside. The rare big run that pays for all the losing sessions is the part a cap cuts off. You keep the full downside and lose the tail that offsets it.

We measured it. Across 20,000 simulated sessions per scenario ($100 deposit, $100 bonus, 30x bonus-only, $1 spins on 96% RTP slots), here’s the average result against your $100 deposit:

Cashout capLow volatilityMedium volatilityHigh volatility
No cap−$11+$19+$56
$1,000−$11+$18+$9
$500−$11+$11−$34
$300−$12−$10−$59

Without a cap, high volatility returns the most on average, because the rare huge run pays for all the busts. A $1,000 cap wipes out most of that advantage, $500 turns it negative, and $300 makes every approach lose. Low volatility barely notices the cap because it rarely gets near it. Medium volatility holds up best at every cap from $500 up. So once you know the cap, you know which slots to play. The full simulation is in our guide to RTP and volatility for bonus clearing.

There’s also a simple test. If the cap is at or below the expected cost of the wagering, the bonus can’t be worth it. A $50 no-deposit bonus at 50x needs $2,500 of bets, which costs about $100 at a 4% edge. With a $100 cap, the best possible result equals the average cost of getting there.

Free spins: count the cap, not the spins

Free spin packages are where caps do the most quiet damage, because the headline is a spin count and the value is a cap. Work out the real number in two steps: spins × stake per spin gives you what the package is worth before it’s played. Then compare that with the cap and any wagering on winnings.

PackageStake valueCap and conditions
BetOnline welcome spins100 spins, 10 a day for 10 days$100 total cap, each daily batch expires in 24 hours
FortuneJack mission spins$0.20 each: 100 spins on a $100 deposit is $2030x on winnings, payouts capped at 5x the bonus, spins valid 3 days
Coins.Game Beginner’s Path52 spins at $0.20 = $10.40No wagering, but four of five spin rewards capped at $1 to $5. One task pays $2 of spins capped at $1.
500 Casino bonus spinsScale with your deposit40x RTP-weighted wagering, conversion capped at $1,000 or 10x the deposit

The Coins.Game row shows the extreme: a cap lower than the stake value of the spins themselves. Ten spins at $0.20 can never pay more than $1. That’s not a reward. It’s a rounding error with a progress bar.

Two more free-spin traps. First, check the spins are playable where you are: FortuneJack’s list is eight slots, and Pragmatic Play blocks Gates of Olympus and Sweet Bonanza in Canada, India, Italy and several other countries. Second, check the clock. BetOnline’s daily batches last 24 hours, and a missed day is gone.

Max cashout vs max bet vs rollover

TermWhat it limitsWhat breaking it costs
RolloverHow much you must bet before withdrawingYou lose before finishing
Max betYour stake per spin while the bonus is activeWinnings voided, often at withdrawal
Max cashoutHow much of a winning balance you can take outThe excess is removed, even if you broke no rules

The cap is the only one of the three that costs you money when you do everything right. See our rollover guide for the first and game weighting and excluded games for what counts toward it.

When a cap is fine and when it isn’t

Usually fine: a cap of 20x the bonus or more, on a light bonus-only rollover, stated clearly before you deposit. Wager-free rewards often have caps too, such as Gamegram’s $200 on its cashback or Cloudbet’s $2,500 on its welcome package, and those are ceilings on free money rather than traps.

Red flags:

  • A cap at or below the bonus itself, as at Megapari
  • A free-spin cap below the spins’ own stake value
  • A fixed cap smaller than the maximum bonus
  • Different caps in different documents
  • A cap at or below the expected cost of the wagering
  • A cap that only appears in the cashier after you’ve claimed

Before you claim, check

  1. Find the cap in every document: promo page, bonus terms, general terms. Use the lowest.
  2. Check what it’s based on: a fixed amount, the bonus or your deposit, and work it out for the deposit you plan to make.
  3. Compare the cap with the expected cost of the wagering. If it’s lower, skip the bonus.
  4. For free spins, compare the cap with spins × stake, and check for wagering on winnings.
  5. With a cap of $500 to $1,000, choose medium-volatility slots over high.

Caps are one reason we rate structure over size. For offers where the terms are clear before you deposit, see our Bitcoin bonus list, and for the category where caps are tightest, our no deposit bonus list.

FAQ

What is a max cashout rule in a casino bonus?

A limit on how much you can withdraw from a bonus, however much it wins. It can be fixed, a multiple of the bonus or deposit, or a cap on free spin winnings. Anything above it is removed.

Is max cashout the same as max win?

Usually yes for bonuses: both mean a ceiling on what a bonus can pay out. Some casinos also have a per-bet maximum win on all play, such as FortuneJack’s €300,000 per bet or spin, which is a different rule.

What is a fair max cashout?

20x the bonus or more, on a light bonus-only rollover, stated before you deposit. A cap at or below the bonus itself, or below the expected cost of the wagering, makes the offer poor value.

Do free spins have a max win?

Very often. BetOnline caps its 100 welcome spins at $100 in total, FortuneJack caps spin winnings at 5x the bonus, and Coins.Game caps some spin rewards at $1.

Which slots should I play when a bonus has a cap?

In our simulations, medium volatility returned the most with caps between $500 and $1,000. High volatility is only best when there is no cap, because its value lives in rare big wins the cap removes.

What if the casino’s documents give different caps?

Plan around the lowest. 500 Casino’s free bet shows $500 on the promo page, $1,000 in its Bonus Terms and 10x the deposit in its Terms of Service, and all three can apply.
