Responsible Gambling

FreeCryptoBonus tracks and grades crypto casino and sportsbook bonuses. Bonuses are the part of gambling built hardest to keep you playing, so this page doesn’t stop at “set a budget.” It explains how bonuses pull you into playing more than you planned, how to use them without that happening, and where to get help if gambling has stopped being fun.
Who Can Gamble?
You must be 18 or older, or older if the law where you live says so, including 21 in most US states. Every casino and sportsbook we list requires players to be of legal age and can close your account and keep your balance if you’re not. Nothing on FreeCryptoBonus is written for or aimed at minors.
How Do Bonuses Make You Play More?
A bonus isn’t free money. It’s money you have to bet many times over before you can withdraw it, and every one of those bets carries the house edge. Take a typical 100% bonus of $100 with 40x wagering on slots that return 96%:
- You have to place $4,000 in bets before the bonus becomes withdrawable.
- At a 4% house edge, $4,000 in bets costs you $160 on average.
- That’s $60 more than the bonus was worth, before any cashout cap or excluded game cuts it further.
The maths is only half of it. The bigger risk is behavioural:
- Your deposit gets locked in. With many bonuses active, you can’t withdraw even your own deposit until the wagering is done. A night you’d have ended after $50 turns into hours of play.
- Tiers push you to deposit more. “Deposit $500 to unlock the full bonus” moves your budget to the casino’s number, not yours.
- Deadlines create pressure. Bonuses that expire in 7 days, or free spins that die after 24 hours, reward playing fast and long.
- Reloads arrive after losses. Reload offers, “we miss you” emails and VIP hosts tend to show up right after a losing run, which is exactly when a new deposit does the most damage.
How Can You Use Bonuses Without Losing Control?
- Set your budget first, then pick the bonus. Never deposit more to reach a bigger bonus tier.
- You can say no. Most casinos let you decline a bonus at deposit or cancel one afterwards. Playing without a bonus means you can withdraw whenever you want.
- Prefer 0x offers. Cashback and rakeback with no wagering don’t lock your balance. They still return only a slice of what you lose, so they don’t make gambling profitable, but they don’t trap your deposit either.
- Read the cashout cap and expiry before you claim. If the cap is 1x or the deadline is 48 hours, skip it.
- Turn off promotional emails. Opt out of marketing in your account settings. Offers you never see can’t tempt you.
- Keep your bankroll in stablecoins. A balance in Bitcoin can drop 20% overnight without a single bet. USDT or USDC keeps your budget at the number you set.
- Set deposit and loss limits on day one. Lowering a limit usually applies straight away, while raising one usually comes with a waiting period, which is why you set them before you need them.
- Never chase losses. Not with a bigger bet, and not with a reload bonus.
What Protections Don’t Apply at Offshore Crypto Casinos?
- National self-exclusion: GAMSTOP in the UK, OASIS in Germany, Spelpaus in Sweden and similar schemes only cover operators licensed in that country. Most crypto casinos never check them.
- Bank gambling blocks: Many banks let you block gambling payments, but the block only catches card payments coded as gambling. Buying crypto on an exchange isn’t coded as gambling, so the block never triggers.
- Bonus rules set by a regulator: Some regulated markets cap wagering requirements or restrict bonus marketing. Offshore casinos set their own rules, which is why 50x, 60x and even 80x wagering still exist.
How Do You Take a Break or Self-Exclude?
Crypto casinos handle self-exclusion one account at a time. Contact support, ask for self-exclusion in writing, and get the confirmation by email. If you’re serious about stopping, ask for permanent closure rather than a temporary cool-off, and ask them to exclude you from every brand the operator runs, not only the one you played at.
Ask them to remove you from all marketing as well. A self-excluded player who still receives bonus emails is one offer away from a new account somewhere else.
Blocking software works where self-exclusion schemes don’t. GamBan and the free BetBlocker block gambling sites on every device you install them on, including offshore crypto casinos. They block bonus sites like this one too, and that’s a good thing.
What Are the Warning Signs of Problem Gambling?
- Depositing because an offer is about to expire, not because you’d planned to play
- Claiming reload bonuses to win back what you’ve lost
- Opening accounts at new casinos mainly for the welcome bonus
- Spending more than you planned, or borrowing to gamble
- Hiding how much or how often you gamble from people close to you
- Selling crypto or dipping into savings you’d set aside for something else
- Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut back
If any of these sound familiar, talk to someone. The services below are free, confidential and used to hearing from people who haven’t told anyone else yet.

How Does FreeCryptoBonus Approach Responsible Gambling?
- We’re a bonus tracker, not a casino. We don’t accept bets, hold player funds or run any games.
- We earn affiliate commission. Some links on this site pay us if you sign up. That never decides a bonus grade.
- We grade the terms, not the headline. A big percentage with high wagering, a short expiry or a low cashout cap gets a low grade, however good it looks on the casino’s banner.
- We don’t promote bonuses as a way to make money. Online gambling is restricted or illegal in some countries, so check your local law before you claim anything.
