How Crypto Casino Withdrawals Work: Why Some Take Minutes and Others Stall
The short answer
The blockchain is rarely what slows a crypto casino withdrawal. The delay happens before your coins are sent: checks on whether your deposit was wagered, a risk score, a bonus audit, identity verification, and sometimes a wait for the casino to move funds into its hot wallet. A small withdrawal with no bonus attached can land in minutes. A big win on a bonus goes through every one of those stages, and each has its own clock.
Limits and rules below come from casino terms checked for our reviews in September 2026.
“Instant withdrawals” is on nearly every crypto casino banner, and for some players it’s true. Pressing withdraw doesn’t send anything, though. It moves your money from your playable balance into a queue and asks the casino for permission. Whether that takes two minutes or two weeks depends on what the queue finds.
The five stages every withdrawal goes through

| Stage | What’s checked | Where it stalls |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Rule checks | Is any bonus still active? Has your deposit been wagered the required number of times? Right coin, right method? | Instant rejection, or a forfeited bonus |
| 2. Risk score | Account age, device, IP, bet sizes, games played, how fast you deposited and withdrew | A high score sends you to manual review |
| 3. Bonus audit | Max bet breaches, excluded games, wagering maths, cashout caps | Only runs if a bonus was involved, and it’s slow |
| 4. KYC and AML | ID, proof of address, source of funds, wallet screening | Days to weeks if documents are rejected |
| 5. Treasury and broadcast | Is there enough in the hot wallet? Is this a batch run? | Large wins can wait for a top-up from cold storage |
Only stage 5 touches the blockchain. Stages 1 to 4 are the casino deciding.
Gate one: have you wagered your deposit?
Almost every crypto casino requires you to bet your deposit at least once before you can withdraw it. It’s an anti-money-laundering rule, and it catches players who deposit, change their mind and try to take the money straight back out.
| Casino | Deposit wagering before withdrawal | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Thrill | 1x | Low-risk bets placed just to clear it can be voided |
| Coins.Game | 1x | One reviewer’s payout was returned until he’d met it |
| Rakebit | 1x | n/a |
| 500 Casino | 1x | Withdrawals go back in the coin you deposited |
| FortuneJack | 2x on casino games, or one sports bet worth half the deposit | Rises to 5x if it thinks you’re using the site to move funds |
| Gamegram | Forced 1x if play looks like “non-entertainment” use | Plus a fee of 10% (Terms) or up to 50% (AML policy) |
Play your deposit through once on normal games before your first withdrawal and this gate costs you nothing.
Why bonus players almost never get “instant”
A truly instant withdrawal is fully automated: the system checks the rules, sees a low-risk account with clean real-money funds under its auto-approval limit, and signs the transaction from the hot wallet. No person looks at it. A bonus breaks that in several places at once:
- The account keeps a bonus flag. Even after wagering converts bonus funds to cash, the database knows where the money came from, and bonus-sourced funds are routed to review.
- The audit is manual. Max bet breaches usually aren’t blocked during play. They’re found afterwards, by someone reading game logs against timestamps and converting crypto stakes at the rate when each bet was placed. That takes time on a long session.
- Balances need adjusting. A sticky bonus has to be deducted before payout. A cashout cap has to be applied. Any manual adjustment takes the withdrawal off the automated path.
- The first withdrawal is the KYC point. At Rakebit and Coins.Game, the first withdrawal triggers full verification whatever its size, and on a welcome bonus the first withdrawal is the bonus one.
If speed matters more to you than the bonus, deposit without one. If you want both, a wager-free structure like cashback or rakeback is paid as cash and skips the audit entirely. The rules that audit checks are in our guides to excluded games and max cashout caps.
The limits and holds casinos publish
Most of the delay is discretionary, but a surprising amount is written down. These are the published limits and holds from terms we checked:
| Casino | Limit or hold |
|---|---|
| BetNow | First payout held for 30 days |
| BetUS | 72-hour hold after card transactions; signed ID and copies of every card used before withdrawal |
| Coins.Game | €10,000 per 30 days, larger wins in monthly instalments. Account monitoring can freeze withdrawals for up to 15 business days. |
| Rakebit | €10,000 a day, €50,000 per 30 days, wins over €50,000 in instalments. Anti-fraud holds “up to seven days and more”. |
| Sportsbet.io | 48-hour freeze after a password change. “Random account health checks” can freeze withdrawals with no trigger. |
| Thrill and Rakebit sportsbooks | Withdrawals can be frozen for up to 31 days on suspicion of unfair play |
| 500 Casino | Large wins can trigger a game provider investigation that holds withdrawals for hours or days; big cashouts can be split into instalments |
| Cloudbet | Handling fee of up to 5% on withdrawals allowed by its terms |
BetNow’s 30-day first-payout hold is the one to know before you deposit: it isn’t a delay in processing, it’s the policy. And Sportsbet.io’s password rule is the easiest trap to avoid: don’t change your password right before you withdraw.
Big wins wait longer, and sometimes arrive in pieces
Casinos keep only a small share of their crypto in hot wallets, the online wallets that can pay automatically, because hot wallets are what hackers target. A withdrawal larger than the hot wallet balance waits for a transfer from cold storage, which usually needs several people to approve. For large slot wins, casinos may also ask the game provider to confirm the round before paying, as 500 Casino’s terms allow.
Then there are instalments. Coins.Game pays wins above its €10,000 monthly limit in monthly chunks. Rakebit does the same above €50,000 and can take up to 90 days to pay a maximum win. A six-figure win at either is a months-long payout plan, not a transfer.
“Pending” and the reverse button

While a withdrawal is pending, most casinos let you cancel it and put the money back in play. The longer it waits, the more players do, especially with bonus winnings that feel like house money. That’s revenue, which is why the button exists. Treat a pending withdrawal as gone. If you want to gamble more, make a separate deposit later.
Check the blockchain yourself
- Ask for the transaction hash. If a casino says it has paid, there’s a TXID. No hash means nothing was broadcast, and the delay is theirs.
- Check congestion claims. mempool.space shows Bitcoin fees and backlog in real time, and Etherscan’s gas tracker does the same for Ethereum. A Bitcoin transaction with a normal fee usually confirms within the hour. If fees are low and support blames “the network”, it isn’t the network.
- Expect batching. Some casinos send withdrawals in batches every few hours to save fees. “Approved” at 10:15 and sent at 11:00 is normal. Approved on Monday and sent on Friday isn’t.
Wallet screening can stop a withdrawal too
Casinos increasingly screen the address you’re withdrawing to as well as the coins you deposited. Thrill runs every withdrawal through Chainalysis and can block payments to high-risk addresses. Curaçao-licensed casinos must screen every deposit and withdrawal with blockchain analytics by June 2027. Withdraw to a clean wallet or a regulated exchange address, and read our guide to when crypto casinos ask for ID for the verification side.
How to get paid fastest
- Make sure no bonus is active when you withdraw, or skip the bonus if speed matters.
- Wager your deposit once on normal games before your first withdrawal.
- Make a small test withdrawal early. It gets verification done and shows you the real speed.
- Withdraw in the coin and method you deposited with.
- Don’t change your password or security settings just before withdrawing.
- Don’t split a large withdrawal into small ones to dodge limits. It looks like structuring and gets you reviewed.
- Don’t reverse a pending withdrawal.
- If it’s been days, ask for the TXID in writing. If the casino won’t pay, our disputes guide covers what to do next, and our red flags checklist covers how to spot it coming.
FAQ
Why is my crypto casino withdrawal pending?
Usually because it hasn’t reached the blockchain yet. Pending covers deposit-wagering checks, risk scoring, bonus audits, KYC and treasury top-ups. Ask for the transaction hash: if there isn’t one, the delay is internal.
Why are bonus withdrawals slower?
Bonus funds send the withdrawal to manual review: someone checks max bet breaches, excluded games, wagering and cashout caps, and the first withdrawal often triggers KYC as well. Withdrawals with no bonus involved are the ones that can be automatic.
Do I have to wager my deposit before withdrawing?
At most crypto casinos, yes. Thrill, Coins.Game, Rakebit and 500 Casino require 1x. FortuneJack requires 2x on casino games or one sports bet worth half the deposit.
Are there withdrawal limits at crypto casinos?
Often. Coins.Game caps withdrawals at €10,000 per 30 days, Rakebit at €10,000 a day and €50,000 per 30 days, and both pay larger wins in instalments. BetNow holds your first payout for 30 days.
How can I tell if a casino is lying about network congestion?
Check current fees on mempool.space for Bitcoin or Etherscan’s gas tracker for Ethereum. If fees are normal, a Bitcoin payment usually confirms within the hour, so a multi-day delay is the casino’s.
Should I cancel a pending withdrawal?
No. Reversing puts the money back in play, which is why casinos make it easy. If you want to keep gambling, let the withdrawal complete and deposit again later.
